![]() When she's waving her hand through the fake rock, that's that bodies of Holsten and his wife and why she places the badge there. That's what causes her to stumble because they're not on the fake display. The reveal of the fake display comes much, much, much sooner in the book compared to the show and I'm still not sure it was the right decision as it made people focus on the question of what's out there instead of why. ![]() You can see the bodies in the long-shot at the end quickly, but even then it’s not every clear. When she's waving her hand through the fake rock, that's the bodies of Holsten and his wife and why she places the badge there. Also the area outside of the Silo should be littered with corpses of other cleaners really. Her pal cottons onto this and gets her ex-wife (I think) in Supply to do the old switcheroo for Mechanical tape, which is why she's able to walk over the hill where nobody has managed to reach. Compared to the legit heat tape that Mechanical use. The reason why IT were so freaked out by her stealing the tape before the first episode is because it's deliberately shitty tape that won't properly seal the suits the cleaners wear and expose them to what's outside. Good shit and I’m eagerly awaiting the second series now. Some terrifically tense moments as the story ratcheted up towards the end of the series, even knowing beforehand the broad strokes of what was to happen. On balance the TV show is probably better than the books, and that’s a rare occurrence indeed. They made some pretty significant changes and additions in this first series that I think genuinely improved and expanded on the source material. ![]() It’ll be interesting to see how they go about adapting book two in particular, but I have faith that they’ll do a good job. Only unfortunate blemish on an otherwise pretty much pitch perfect adaptation. I’ll watch anything she’s in purely on name alone, which is just as well, because Common can’t act his way out of a fucking paper bag. Rebecca Ferguson’s one of the best actors working today and was an inspired choice of casting for Juliette. I devoured the books about 7 or 8 years ago and was utterly hooked from reading the very first chapter, so was really pleased with what they delivered in this first series of what I thought was an excellent TV version. ![]()
